Wheat Testing & Transparency
Why does Sunrise Flour Mill test its flour?
We test our flours because we believe quality starts with trust. Beyond organic certification, we use accredited third-party labs to analyze our products so you — and we — can be confident in what’s inside every bag.
What contaminants do you test for?
We regularly test for glyphosate (a common herbicide residue) and heavy metals. These are two of the tests customers ask about most.
What were the glyphosate test results?
Independent lab results show glyphosate at extremely low, trace levels — typically 0.01–0.04 mg/kg — which is hundreds to thousands of times lower than allowed limits in both the U.S. and European Union.
Are heavy metals found in your flours?
Yes, naturally occurring heavy metals like arsenic, lead, mercury, and cadmium are tested, and levels are very low — well below international safety guidelines. Lead and mercury were not detected in tested samples.
Who performs this testing?
All testing is done with ISO/IEC 17025 accredited methods, using gold-standard technologies (e.g., LC-MS/MS for glyphosate and ICP-MS for metals).
Why do you test if organic standards already apply?
Organic certification ensures certain farming standards, but it doesn’t require the same level of ingredient testing we do. Our testing goes beyond those requirements to ensure additional peace of mind.
Can I see the actual test results?
Yes — summarized results and testing descriptions are shared publicly to support our commitment to clean flour and radical transparency.
What’s the goal of your testing program?
To provide flour that’s simple, honest, and trustworthy, backed by routine third-party testing and full transparency about our methods and results.
